OUR FOUNDATIONAL BELIEFS

trinity.png

The Trinity

God has existed from before time began, and exists in three persons – the Father, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that God the Father is the Creator of the world and is actively involved in humanity. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to this earth as Saviour of the world. We believe that the Holy Spirit is continuing the work of Jesus upon the earth.

Matthew 28:19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

salvation.png

Salvation

We are saved by grace alone. We cannot earn favour with God through any works.

Galatians 2:16: Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law.

purpose.png

Purpose

We are saved by grace alone and for a particular purpose. God created every person very deliberately, to be loved by Him, and used on earth for something of eternal significance. All human life is precious and begins at conception.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

sin.png

Sin

Sin entered the world through the actions of the first man, Adam, who disobeyed God. But we are forgiven when we believe in another man, God’s son Jesus, who died as a sacrifice for our sin.

Romans 3:23: For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Forgiveness

Our sins are completely forgiven as soon as we repent. God chooses to remove them from His memory.

1 John 1:9: But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Jesus

Jesus Christ, God’s only son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He was crucified, died and was buried. Three days later He rose from the dead and ascended back to heaven, where He is seated at the right hand of the Father.

2 Corinthians 5:15: He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

the bible.png

The Bible

The Bible is inspired by God and is the sole authority of God’s will.

2 Timothy 3:16: All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

marriage.png

Marriage

Marriage is between a man and a woman, and for life. Sex is reserved for marriage.

Genesis 2:24: Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

water baptism.png

Water Baptism

Water baptism is a public demonstration of our decision to become a Christian.

1 Peter 3:21: And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

baptism in the holy spirit.png

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit wants to empower every Christian through baptism of the Holy Spirit, and then a continual refilling. Its purpose is to give us supernatural power to preach the Gospel and minister healing.

Acts 1:8: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.

The Church

The church is a holy institution, created by Jesus who will one day return for His bride, the Church. Its purpose is to share the Good News, teach, nurture and encourage Christians, and to impact the whole world with the kingdom of God.

Ephesians 2:20-21: Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.  We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord.
